In Rajkot, India’s batsmen were quite skillful, particularly in the first session when the visitors were leading after chasing them down to 33/3 in nine overs.

In the first innings, India’s shrinking boat was saved by skipper Rohit Sharma, who also managed to steer it to calmer waters. After hitting his 11th century (131 off 196 balls), Rohit used a very conservative approach to turn the tide back in favor of India.

Upon his comeback, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made an even bigger impression with the willow in hand. After winning the toss and batting first on a surface that was batting-friendly, the southpaw made sure the hosts reached 445 with a resilient century (112 off 225 deliveries).

With the exception of Ben Duckett, none of the other English batters shown much effort, which worked against them since they were limited to 319.

In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal took the situation into his own hands and thoroughly defeated the opponents. His magnificent double century helped India in posting a formidable 557 for the visitors to chase.

The team captained by Ben Stokes will enter the fourth Test with the idea that they need to win in order to save the series after their crushing defeat at the hands of the Indians in Rajkot.
